  • Back and Kicking Ass

Hey, guys. I've not updated since wednesday (I believe) so I've got quite a bit to write about, which is dandy. I took a break from everything on Thursday and spent the day at a friends with some alcohol and music which really allowed me to have a nice chill day (Thanks Jen! :)). To be honest with you breaks like that can go two ways for me, I can come back refreshed and with the willingness to work as much and as hard as possible or I can come back thinking that I really can't be bothered doing anything. This time, it's a nice happy medium. Perhaps within the next few days TextNet vBeta 02 (one of the H1E projects) will be completed. More on this however in a bit.

  • Just a Short One - H1: Update

Well, my Mambo isn't working properly. So, because Mambo and Joomla are pretty much the same technology just tweaked in different ways my hosting said that Joomla was my better option. Apparantly they've been having troubles with the Mambo hosting for a while and are urging members to switch to Joomla if possible. The problem is that the data can't be transfered between, so all the sites needing to switch who have a well established content base have to re-add everything in or start from scratch, which is a real drag. Luckily my Mambo was only up from yesterday and I was just messing around with it getting everything to work the way I wanted. Now, I know how to set everything up and I can get all the sections, catagories and links properly working.

I don't really have any content to submit as yet other than some tutorials I'm working on and a nice piece about encryption. I'll probably just start working on the hacker resource pages and see how much I can get up tonight, but I'll probably fall asleep at my computer desk within an hour or so. Plus, the guys in the hacking group I'm in (HackersFirst who I featured yesterday) aren't online which is pretty strange and my MSN list is dead so there's noone to keep me occupied. I'm just looking forward to getting some more developers for H1 to ease the load on myself since I have loads of work to do on other projects including the new Slayer City website which isn't nearly finished. I'm taking a break from it all tomorrow though since I'm spending the day at Jen's. Maybe I can unwind and have myself all juiced up for the weekend to get some major work done.

Right now I just seem to be doing something for ten minutes, getting bored, closing it down and then moving onto working on a part of one of my other projects. I'm seriously giving myself too much to do and to be honest I really don't know where to start or what I need to get finished first. Actually, I need to get the new Slayer City site up first since it's the one project in which I have member demand for. H1 Experimental is still very much unistablished so I can take as much time as I want with it and then start advertising it when I've got a good content base. Plus, I need to get more of my comics finished for Fleshgear, and me and Mat are way behind on the KidJunkie animation process.

If anyone out there, any one at all has free time and knows how to do any of the following and is willing to help out voluntarily on a project, then please drop me an email at: darkmunk@hotmail.co.uk...

The new link for H1 Experimental:

    Linky.

  • Just a Short One - H1

Yay, H1 Experimental Programming is back up! Spent a lot of lonely hours messing about with Mambo, and let me tell you something it's god-damn flexible and I'm loving it! One or two problems with the themes, but I should work that out within the next couple of days. It allows me to do pretty much everything, and I'm hoping if I can gain special FTP access from my host than I can download some custom modules to it and install them. Anyway, back on track.

Linky - There's also a nice module in there as well which lets me manage clients and banners, meaning I can make some money off of advertising. w00t! But it's not going to be profit, it's generally going to be going towards paying for new web space, domain names, and other little things I need to manage the Placebo Network.

Anyway, click that linky about or click here to visit the new H1 Experimental Programming site.

    Ciao for now,
    Brad.

  • What a damn day!

Starting off with my morning, my damn alarm didn't go off. How annoying is that? I've got exams and my alarm decides to die on me. Anyway, god bless my mother (I'm sorry mum :( ) got me up. I even got to college an hour early, but it did require me to get showered, dressed and out of the house within fifteen minutes. I knew that there was going to be no way that today was going to be enjoyable in the least, and I was completely right. Well, apart from seeing Jen at the bus stop :)

Let me explain todays time table:

  • HackersFirst

In this post I'd like to introduce a white-hat (or to my understanding they are) hacking group called HackersFirst. About a year ago when I was getting majorly involved in the hacking community, somehow, and don't ask me how, I came accross this small unrecognised group and decided to take a break from the mainstream community and see how my luck panned out. Unfortunately due to unforseen events (HockeyInJune and David know the reason, but I don't want to release it publicly) I hate to quit the hacking scene for a while and I should hopefully be returning soon.

The reason I wanted to feature HackersFirst in my blog is for the simple reason that they are the only true white-hats I have ever come accross. They are willing to help friends at any cost and believe in the hackers ethics right down to each binary-coded-decimal character (which reminds me I need to revise BCD for my exam tomorrow). They are eager to take on new members and teach them in the ways of the hacker that they see fit. They have recently invited me to start chatting on their private IRC channel again and get back into what I really should do, and was a couple of years ago (I will post links and information to HackersFirst at the bottom of this post).

Although they do have a slight bearing towards Windows systems and don't have much of a problem with Microsoft (which can be seen as conflicting views in the hacker world, being a hacker and liking Microsoft that is), they research and follow the history and conduct of all the major ethical hacking attempts in history. Their website links back to quotes, ethics, laws and even news articles about the very first people to be considered "computer hackers". I like to think of these people as scientists, you can't perform a completely new advanced experiment without knowing the basic background and history of the specific subject you're performing it on.

I am glad to say that the members of the hacker group are pro "Save the Internet" which is great, because they're doing what hackers origionally created their groups and ethics for, to fight for freedom. Computers, networks and the internet is now so big in the daily workings of everyone's lives and every support to the saving of the internet campaign, whether official or unnofficial, will help. I would advise you visit the link above and read what it's all about, if you're anything even remotely against actions being taken against "the little guy" then you'll be fascinated by this. Talk about the American Hipocrisy.

Finally, here's the information to the site. If you're interested in Hacking at all and want to become involved with a great bunch of American teenagers who love to push themselves to the limits, then these are the guys to get in with.

  • On my way to internet domination!

Yeah, I wish. Hello all, Dark Munk here.I'm also known as Pres Requin or just plain Brad. I thought I'd create a nice little blog for myself because I do have a lot of rants about my current projects, the internet and all things that are rant-able. Since I have a lot going on project wise I thought it would be nice to keep my non-existant net fans happy by telling them what's going on with Brad, H1's progress and the new Placebo Network project, featuring many sub-projects all of which I have to create and manage. Aren't I a busy boy.

I might start this nice little blog entry with some information for the players of my online forum based role-playing game, Slayer City. As many of you may know for the past week or so I've been programming the new, flashy "SCWM" site and have released a couple of cropped teaser screenshots in the announcements forum. Now, I'm going to let you in on a little secret, there hasn't been much forward progress since then, in fact, there has been a large ammount of backward progress which has caused me to start from scratch. But never fear my role-playing buddies! Brad's alter ego "Dark Munk" is here to save the day, and he has spent the past few days planning new and better ways to design, implement and code the new website.

For example who knew that I perform the same task, it being faster, more secure and easier to use in three lines than the origional twelve lines that where buggy, complex and darn-right confusing! Well, that's PHP for ya'. A lesson to the younger readers: Don't eat cookies, start sessions! I must say after tonight the user auth should be in place and completely finished along some of the user control panel actions as well. Then the next step is getting the admin control panel sorted, because without that and the user module nothing else is going to work. It's just going to be some random code, a database and a whole lot of errors.

I would now like to vent some anger (friendly banter anger) towards Chris, who was so lazy he told me he'd help me with this new site, sent me a half finished not even right word file containing the "users" database table setup and hasn't since been arsed to do anything else. Thanks Chris, you're always here when I need ya' most kid! I'm just joking ya'. Take your time, I know you've got a lot on with your non-existant exams, brutal time table in which you just can't miss any lessons, and lack of a brain in which to cope. So how how's the internet poker doing? Hehehe.

Well, I'm not sure this is goodbye for even tonight actually, come nine-oclock I'll have something else to rant about and update. Until then I'm going to leave you with some nice links to visit:
